Film Synopsis

Summary Of My Film

The boy is regularly picked on at his sixth form, and he has little friends, except one girl called Julia, whom he fancies slightly. He is soon pushed over the edge by the other students and because of this he walks out of his school. After this reckless action he causes many arguments at home, over the course of a few weeks (Mainly about what he is to do in later life). About 3 weeks after he has left the school, tension arises between the step father and the boy, and they begin to argue. During this time, he also falls out with Julia, which only furthers his angry state of mind. Not to long after a very heated about the boy being a disgrace to his real father causes violence to arise resulting in the boy feeling isolated from the family. Due to this he runs away with the belief life can not be worse than what he had just left behind. He soon finds himself in a particularly rough area of London. In a scared attempt to find some sort of security he turns to a gang who are involved with the drug trade. Unsure about this decision he attempts to walk away, however a charismatic drug dealer called Jermaine tempts him to stay.
For a short while they show him kindness and security, but the boy soon slips up during a minor drug transaction leading to a loss of money. As a result he is severely beaten, and is forced to spend some nights on the street, where he has to beg. After this ordeal he still turns back to Jermaine despite the treatment, however this time he is treated badly from the outgo. Over a course of a few weeks there appears to be no way out of his situation, and he cannot turn anywhere else.
Julia bumps into him in the street one day, and she is in disbelief about what has happened to the boy, and she insists on helping, however the boy is reluctant, due to the earlier falling out they had before running away. The boy is forced into a cafe by Julia, where the boy lets out his life story (After Julia is nagging to find out the root of his problems), and how he feels there is little left living for and how he feels that there was no aspect of his life worth returning to. After the monologue she sympathizes with the boy and convinces him that if he returns home there is a life for him. Julia and the boy then come up with a plan to help him escape. Their plan is successful resulting in his escape from Jermaine and Julia then helps him home. The boy then walks into his house, and his family are ecstatic at the sight of him, even the step father. However he remains indifferent to the reunion, which leaves the question as to whether he will ever be satisfied with life, and whether he will ever be the same person after the traumatic experience.
